Gia Hendrix

Gia Hendrix (American, b. 1999) is a self taught painter based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Hendrix's works are reactions to past personal events and unprocessed trauma.  Her interest in psychology and passion for the human experience is the driving force of her creations.  Hendrix’s paintings include portraits that consume the foreground of each piece.  Each figure is presented with a stoic expression, and slightly distorted through a mix of geometric shapes and fluid paint strokes.  The style in which Hendrix’s works are painted in is vital in expressing the intense emotion of a particular moment in time.

Hendrix entered Stockton University as a painting major in 2018, and left after finishing her first year.  She then attended community college and enrolled herself into psychology classes.  After quickly learning that she longed for  more freedom than what the structure of a university could offer, she decided to take a break from school as a whole.  Since focusing on her artwork full time, she has had her work displayed in Philadelphia through Downtown 500’s Art Gallery, (2019), as well as had her work featured through The Thesis Art Collection and (2020).

As a young artist, Hendrix is paving her own path to create and paint the stories and universal experiences we all have difficulty trying to express with words.
